Chef Ken:  “When I cook casseroles it reminds me of growing up spending time with my mom in the kitchen.  We have a large family and she had to get creative to make affordable, home-cooked, delicious meals to feed all of us.  She mastered the art of casserole making and I love cooking casseroles to this day because of my mom.”

Chef Ken Christopherson grew up in the Pacific Northwest with a passion for food.  His mother Barbara worked as a cook for many years but is best remembered by all who knew her for her home-cooked meals.  She had a knack for knowing just the right amount and combination of herbs and spices to add to all her recipes.  Sadly, Barbara passed away in 2011, but Chef Ken still shares his mother’s passion for cooking and treasures her collection of recipes that he has inherited.

Chef Ken graduated as a Certified Professional Chef from the Bates Technical College Culinary Arts program in Tacoma Washington in 1995. The two-year apprenticeship training he received under the instruction of Chef Roger Knapp encompassed all practical and theoretical culinary skills.  Shortly after graduating from Bates Technical College Chef Ken began his career catering special events.  In 1995 he opened his own restaurant, a pizzeria called Gator Magoons, which he operated until 2004.

Today Chef Ken cooks for over two hundred people a day with as much love and enthusiasm as his mother had for cooking.  He still loves to cook the comfort foods families love to eat, like homestyle casseroles.  When Ken’s brother Phil suggested they create a Web site, they eagerly joined forces, and together the two brothers work to bring wonderful casserole recipes to your home.

Bring a bit of nostalgia to your family table.  Go back to a simpler time with Chef Ken’s casserole recipes; your family will appreciate the warm, deliciousness of the time-honored tradition of a great casserole.  Chef Ken can be contacted at ken@cooken-casseroles.com.
